Home Ownership Training

We will provide individual counseling as you begin the path towards home ownership. You will also attend two 3-hour sessions (see Events schedule) to receive your certificate, which is mandatory for financial assistance.

Down Payment Assistance

Once you have been approved for our assistance, we can provide from $1,000 to $3,000 for your closing costs, prepaids, and/or down payment to purchase a home in the city of Jackson (FHA does not permit us to provide down payment). If you are purchasing a home outside the city limits of Jackson, but within Jackson County, we will guide you in obtaining a MSHDA mortgage and down payment assistance.

Foreclosure Prevention (City Program)

This program can assist you to bring your mortgage payments current if you have received a foreclosure notice and live in the city of Jackson. Eligible circumstances include medical emergency, divorce, and loss of employment. You must have recovered from the event and show that you will be able to keep your payments current once caught up.

Foreclosure Intervention (County Program)

Please visit the Community Foreclosure Coalition website at www.jlhcfc.org for information on how to proceed in the prevention of foreclosure, or modification of your mortgage. If you require assistance, we may be able to help you by acting on your behalf.
